Parkinson’s LITE is a funny, real-life story about a not-so-funny disease.
Readers follow Marie and Pat, a married couple, who in an attempt to cope with Parkinson’s, wind up switching roles. Pat, the retired cop accustomed to great Italian meals and endless pampering becomes the caretaker, maid, dog walker, and cook (the latter of which he compares to an acute case of Shingles). We watch Marie slowly lose her independence and become totally dependent on her exhausted, stressed out husband.
The story is real. The characters are real. The volatile, laugh-out-loud situations that arise are real.
Situations like
Arguing while he’s helping her buck-naked body out of the tub.
Fighting over an egg roll.
Pat, never saying the right thing to assuage their arguments.
Parkinson’s LITE, at its core, is inspirational. This glimpse into Marie’s life details her amazing progress and gives hope and positive reminders to those who suffer from Parkinson’s and other debilitating diseases.

Parkinson Lite The Laughable Side edition by Marie Elizabeth Tomas Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
In the most challenging time of her life, Marie Tomas finds humor and offers it in this funny and uplifting motivational book. Reflective of her courage and tenacity while dealing with Parkinson's, there's emotional strength to be found in each giggle and guffaw. Ms. Tomas' accounts of her life remind us that there's humor waiting to be found in our own lives--during times that we least expect it, but when it is needed the most.
I have suffered with m.s. for 14 years now. Marie Macioce has written a lighthearted look at the debilitating disease that is Parkinsons,
So many of her experiences mimic mine. I was glad to read that she has a loving husband a large family to support her. Hopefully the drug she is taking will bring her relief for years to come. Soldier on Mrs. Macioce!
Marie Marioce shares the story of the medical visits, the spousal relationship and the daily incidents in her life with Parkinsons. Certainly filled with challenges, Marie finds a way to laugh at some of the absurdities.
I have lived with MS for many years and can relate to so many of the stories shared by Marie. One can understand the pain at receiving the diagnosis and recognize the challenges of readjusting one's life to the physical decline. What a gift to laugh and seek out the experiences that help create a positive attitude. Thanks Marie!
My mom has PD and the doctors also has trouble making a definite diagnosis. The recounting of multiple doctor visits is common. It's good to read an account that makes light of this horrible disease, hard for both the sufferer and their families. Good luck and may they find a better treatment soon.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read it. I read this book in one sitting, I am a sucker for memoirs, I love to read about the everyday person and the strength they have to get through the bad side that life throws at them.
This is a book about Parkinsons but there is very little detail about the actual disease, it is a comical look at one woman's experience with the disease. She talks us through the loss of independence and having to rely completely on her husband. I have to say that Marie is a very funny lady and I warmed to her straight away. This is a very easy read that will put a smile on your face regardless of the topic. I would definately recommend.
As a lover of fiction, I did not expect to enjoy a memoir so much.
Marie's book is funny, endearing, relatable and most importantly courageous. Throughout the book she made me laugh, cry and smile as she finally embraced her diagnosis and started the necessary treatment. While the book deals with a very serious subject, it is nevertheless, lighthearted enough that anyone else can find something to enjoy. Marie even taught me a thing or two about relationships!
Honestly if you want to laugh and cry at the same time, I highly recommend this book. And I am sure that sufferers of PD will find some useful tips of how to deal with the disease.
Since my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 3 years ago this is the first time I could laugh at this insidious disease.
The author has a positive attitude and gave me a bit of optimism to hold on to.
Parkinson's Life is one woman's story of how she first developed the symptoms, looked for answers, and the progress it took, and what helped her. She uses humor as part of her healing.
